Pottstown Classics Car Club supports Auto Tech students

The Pottstown Classics Car Club made a donation of $1,000.00 to the Pottstown High School Auto Technology Department. Auto Technology instructor Mr. Will Bertoti indicated the donation would be used to purchase much needed hand tools for the students. The partnership between the Classics Car Club and the Auto Technology class came about through a partnership to restore a '67 Ford Galaxy for Brad Herron, a disabled military veteran who was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division serving in Afghanistan.

Mike Ullman, Club President, said our motto is, "Helping the community through a hobby." We wanted to do this project to honor our veterans everywhere and to bring attention and awareness to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. We have received donations and sponsorships from many companies and individuals.

Pottstown High School students were asked to take part in this project to provide them with a real life, hands-on opportunity to develop their skills. High school juniors Cody Christman and Zach Moore are the lead students in this project. The students are allowed to work on the car one day a week as part of their classroom experience.

Christman noted, "This is a great opportunity lor me to learn and develop my skills for some- thing that I want to eventually make my career."

Moore said the decision to give up his time to help was an easy one. "This man gave up his time fighting for our country and we're going to give our time working on his car so that he can enjoy driving it."

Ullman indicated that the club reached out to local businesses hoping to get financial support for the project and donations. And although there has been a great response, there is still need for further resources. More information about this project can be found by going to the club's website PottstownClassics.com.
